Dating During Covid: There is Still Hope

Dating during Covid is a readjustment hardly any of us ever thought we’d have to make. For those who weren’t in a relationship before the pandemic, it may seem like all hope is gone. However, the optimist in me is here to tell you that it is not.

The pandemic may have changed the way most of us will be dating for some time, but it shouldn’t be synonymous with loneliness. The butterflies, chemistry, and love we once felt can still be found through our phone screens and through socially distanced activities.

Dating during Covid might come with its fair share of hardships but it is not impossible. Below are some of the few ways wandering singles can meet their person.

Dating Virtually

Socially distanced dating can be loads of fun. Given that we are still adjusting to this new dating style, dating virtually is a great way to look for the one. There are plenty of ways to do so too.

Dating Apps

Dating apps are a great way to meet other singles. There are many apps to choose from and users have the opportunity to customize their location, age range and other preferences. Bumble, an app designed to let women make the first move, is a great way to feel safe while meeting new people.

Zoom Dates

If you would much rather go ahead and speak face-to-face without meeting in person, a Zoom date would be a lovely idea. This date idea can allow you to get to know your date on a more personal level. Communicating through messages can seem very impersonal and distanced, so Zoom can be a great way of getting to understand a person’s mannerisms and sense of humor.

Virtual Speed Dating

Contrary to what you may have expected, speed dating is still going on. Virtual speed dating websites and events are the new wave. These events give you a few moments to fill out some paperwork about yourself and then allow you to join the fun. Within a few moments, you’ll be speaking to other singles.

Socially Distanced Date Ideas

For those who have already found their person during the pandemic and need ideas on how to conduct a socially distanced date, here are a few.

A Picnic

A picnic date would allow for minimal contact with other couples. It’ll give you both the chance to prepare food you both enjoy and collaborate on finding your own “spot’. If you use a blanket you can sit on either side and minimize contact.

Visit a Pumpkin Patch

Though a bit trickier to avoid contact with others, a pumpkin patch visit could be the beginning to a perfect Fall date. You and your significant other can grab some pumpkins, have a carving contest and eat some candy corn to celebrate the crisp change in season.

Watch the Sunrise at the Beach

If you’re into peaceful mornings and the smell of salty ocean water, waking up early and admiring nature’s glory is a beautiful way to start a relationship. You can admire how the sun hits your partner and watch the smile on their face as the sun rises.

Outdoor Restaurants

For couples who are into a more traditional date night, an outdoor reservation is the way to go. You can take a peek at your local restaurants and see if outdoor reservations are available. This option would revive your romance and bring back a sense of normalcy to your date.

COVID-19 may have forced us to reimagine our dating plans and the way we meet others, but it doesn’t mean we can’t try and find the one. If nothing else, we now have endless dating stories to tell. Not many people can say they’ve survived dating in a pandemic. Good luck and happy dating.
