4 Ways to Elevate Your Dress-Suit for a Girls’ Night Out

After a long day at work, the phone rings; we pull it out from our bag and we’re greeted by messages. Our girlfriends all have one thing on their minds tonight– a fun night out. The only problem is there’s no time to run home and change so we’ll need to work with what’s in our car to transform our work suits into proper girls’ night attire.

Whether you’ve got a backseat wardrobe like me, or ten minutes to run home after work, here are four cute ways to spice up your outfit for a night out on the town…

SWAP OUT THOSE DRESS PANTS

First, look at the pants you wore to work. Are they cute enough? Too dressy?

Find a pair of jeans that fit you. They can be skinny jeans, mom jeans, or the jeans you stole from your sister a month ago. It doesn’t matter, try them on.

Jeans will allow for a casual yet chic look that no one will ever see coming. You can opt for different washes like light denim, dark denim, or acid wash. It’ll look like you had the whole day to get ready and no one will ever suspect a thing.

The best part? You won’t have to worry about any Marilyn Monroe mishaps while out on the town.

Try again next-time, gust of wind!

CHANGE THOSE SHOES

For me, somewhere to the right of those jeans, my backseat wardrobe typically has space for three more pairs of shoes. My  gym shoes, my slippers, and somewhere under those, some good old heels! Heels elevate any look and fast.

You can certainly play around with color choice when picking out the heels you leave in your car, however, if you find yourself wondering which ones to slide under the driver’s seat, a neutral pair is always a good way to go. They’ll take your slightly-worn dress uniform and make you look like a thousand bucks.

COLOR! COLOR! COLOR!

Whether it be through makeup products or accessories, color makes any look come alive.

Subtle hints of color throughout an outfit can make it appear like major thought was put into it– and who doesn’t want that?

The brighter, the better. My personal favorite is a deep, rich, red lipstick. But, go with whatever makes you feel comfortable.

A quick tip: lipstick can quickly turn into a cream blusher if you’re short on makeup products.

Just remember to use your flashlight to guide you when applying makeup. We don’t want any mishaps or lipstick on your teeth. Pull down that car mirror and apply!

PILE ON THE PATTERNS

If you’re like me and have a backup blazer or a flashy top in your car, don’t be scared to try it on. You may be thinking “that is way too much,” but layering patterns over patterns can definitely be a look. We saw them all over the Milan Spring Runways for 2020. So who says you can’t make the city your runway?

Lastly, if you do decide to start your own backseat wardrobe, remember that with a touch of confidence, everything looks good.

Now go have fun and stay safe!
